"Happy Halloween!" says the Ladybug

Wow, did we have a fun time celebrating Halloween!  We kicked off the weekend with a playdate Thursday and we made candy corn and peanut goodie bags.  Charlotte & Susannah loved "cooking."  Sweet Josiah just did a couple "drive-bys" to taste the candy corn.  He was way too into Susannah's baby stroller to stop playing and start mixing, haha!

On Friday, Susannah went to mother's day out and participated in a Halloween parade and trick-or-treating.  She was totally into it, which surprised me because I didn't think she was grasping the halloween tradition.  However, when she saw those sweet old ladies with buckets of candy, she said "trick-or-treat!" loud and clear :)

Here's Susannah with her classmates and Miss Lou before the parade.  They are making crafts, one is a spider and her spiderweb and Susannah's thumbprint is the little spider and the other is a ghost with stickers.  It was fun to watch Susannah work with Miss Lou and her crafts are too cute, of course!

And here is the prize candy...the blue lollipop.  I don't know what it is about this piece of candy but she was so happy about it.  She held it the entire time we took pictures.  When I picked her up from MDO she ran out of her classroom and grabbed her bag, found the lollipop, and grinned from ear to ear.  I let her eat it on the car ride home and she was so excited.  She kept telling me how much she loved her lollipop.  I was happy to give her the lollipop because I was sneaking her Reese's peanut butter cup and snickers bar - fair trade, right?

Late afternoon Friday we went to Michael's office, which is a favorite activity of Susannah's. We delivered our candy corn and peanut goodie bags and Susannah had a great time hamming it up for everyone. After that, we stopped by the Daniels to snap some pics of Susannah and Josiah. These two are so funny together. They just giggle, hug, giggle some more and run around, they run alot!

Now they're running with sticks and they think it's positively hilarious.  And yes, Josiah's is bigger than he is.

 But not until this little escapade...oh my goodness!  I took Susannah's ladybug dress off and replaced it with a pumpkin sweatshirt for the ride home.  Well, when this was happening Josiah thought he needed his shirt off too.  Problem was, I didn't have a pumpkin sweatshirt for him...silly Josiah!  The kiddos thought this was hilarious.  Oh, what are we going to do with these two?!?

Saturday was OKC's trick-or-treating day so we took Susannah to 3 neighbors before the official hours started.  2 of the 3 neighbors had dinner waiting for us and they all had gifts for Susannah - it was wonderful and so nice!  We had a great time visiting with everyone and Susannah was able to play with her friend Elin because her great-grandparents are our neighbors. Fun!

Susannah and Elin loved these teddy grahams.  Just a few seconds before this picture, my darling Susannah ran over to the appetizer spread of fine cheeses, olives, meats, etc. and put an olive in her mouth, made "the face" and spit it out.  Where did the olive go?  Why back in the bowl, of course!  Oh my.

Susannah slept 13 hours Friday night, 12 hours Saturday night and took a 5 hour nap on Saturday afternoon. So, we kinda got that hint that the Halloween festivities were starting to catch-up with her. We didn't make it to the big country club halloween party on Sunday night. We were just partied out. I asked my mom to make us dinner, which she did of course (thanks Mom!) and we all lounged, relaxed and ate dinner together. It was the perfect way to wrap up our wild and fun Halloween weekend. Susannah made a costume switch for dinner and went with her SMU Mustangs cheerleading uniform. She looked perfect and her "S-M-U" chant rocks!
